I've been polking around eBay looking for an inexpensive mixer for this 4 track that I have. I missed a Tascam M-35 that went for less than $60. I wondering of the merits of several. Series 3, series 5, The M-30 over M-35, M108 rack mount and M208/16.
At this point I'm thinking that an 8/4/2 mixer would do me well. I'm slowly building up to do some recording of Classical Pipe Organs. For the most part I would expect to use 2 mics for sterio imaging about 20 feet in front of the instrument, one mic at the same place facing into the room to pick up room echo and perhaps 2 more mics in the pedal section (pedals sound on opposit sides of the instrument as you go up the scale) to pick up that 32 Hz pedal diapasion. Perhaps a mic for the choir and swell sections. But really 4 tracks would do me.
All this I would mixdown to a half track master. (anyway thats the plan)
Right now I only have the 4 track and I'm looking for the mixer. Any mixers lying in dust you need to move at low cost? What should I look for.
Regards, Ethan
