some of the volume knobs are crackling in my MH-40 Headphone amp unit when turning them-- Is it possible to clean the knobs with some sort of spray, . .and if so what kind, . or would it be recommended taking the unit into a Tascam repair shop to get properly cleaned or maintained?? Thanks

It should be easy enough to open the case of the unit and spray the controls with some good quality contact cleaner.

I would recommend Caig Laboratories Deox-it in the pump spray can. If you have a decent electronics parts store in your area, hopefully they will carry it, otherwise, it can be ordered on line direct from the website.

Cheers! :)

Nah!...

Just rotate the scratchy pots, vigorously, back & forth, through their entire range of travel,... back & forth,... round & round,... over & over,... for about 2 or 3 [or 5] minutes, EACH,... and the scratchiness should disappear.

It's just dirt in there, from lack of use.

Dudes!!! what type of cables???

I need some cable advise, . what is a recommended type of cable to connect the MH-40 to my 424 MkII. . . and if I need headphone extension cables, . . is there a better quality cable to use, . or not really.?
Thanks guys .. .!

Headphone extension cables?

I use RadioShack stuff myself for that application. ;)

MH-40 to mixer cables?

Hosa makes some cheap but decent stuff.

Check you local music retailer for selection and availability.

Hint; If the wire looks better suited to use as dental floss, avoid it.

Cheers! :)

The standard RCA-RCA Stereo cables should do'ya.

Whatever's handy at Radio Shack should be fine.
