Tascam memory card compatibility between units

Question for any of you Tascam users out there. I have a couple friends that I do a fair amount of recording with...they each use a Tascam DP-24. They've told me to get the same thing because if we each have one then we can just pull the memory card out of our home unit and plug it in wherever we are and continue working on the tracks. Here's the thing- I want something a little more portable/less bulky, but I want to know that I'd still get that kind of compatibility. If I got a DP-008ex, for instance, would I still be able to put the memory card out and put it into a DP-24 and keep working without any compatibility issues?
