TASCAM FW1884.....from heaven above?

Does anyone have any real world info on the TASCAM fw1884?

This puppy is a DAW controller, audio interface, 8 mic pres, 4x4 midi all in one for $1299.

Momma always said....If it looks too good to be true, it most likely is!

Im new to recording, but am working toward recording my drums for people's projects. This unit LOOKS like a God send for me..

1. The FW-1844 has FireWire OUT. Normally, most Tascam board users go TDIF OUT into a MOTU 2408mkII or III, then FireWire into their computer. It seems as if Tascam is cutting out the middleman.

I would a minute for Tascam to get all of the bugs out.......

They are known for their initial units having quirks.
