Hi !! My name is Guillaume, I'm french ( Paris ). I'm the new owner of a Tascam DP-32 , but I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP !!!! I don't understand how to use the tracks 10-12-14 up to 32... I mean, is it a REAL 32 DIFFERENT tracks recorders or a 20 tracks recorders ? Because no matters if I choose mono or stereo, I have no possiblity at all to ( for instance ) copy/paste the track 1 to the track 10... only the 9 ( mono, and in this case, I have no option to do anything with track 10 ) or stereo ( but in this case, I lose one track, because I only want to copy it on track 9 and keep the 10 free for something else )... PLEASE I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP !!!! THANKS !!!
here's my message in french:
SVP J'AI VRAIMENT BESOIN D'AIDE MERCI !!!

PLEASE I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP
I don't understand AT ALL this thing between mono and stereo between the tracks 9 and 32... and I REALLY need to work with 32 REAL tracks this week-end... and it looks like I can only use 20 tracks, the 12 others are linked ( no matters if I choose mono or stereo )
I'm so lost
PLEASE HELP ME !!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!

As says on TASCAM product description on TASCAM web site:

"Employing 8 combo 1/4" - XLR inputs with +48V Phantom Power, 24 tracks (12 mono, 6 stereo) of the DP-24 or 32 tracks (8 mono, 12 stereo) of the DP-32 the ability to select between stereo and mono and an affluence of other key features"

So, you can record on DP32 8 tracks at the same time. You have 8 mono tracks and 24 stereo tracks. These stereo tracks can be used as 12 mono, in this case will be 20 channels.

If you intend to record 32 channels at once, it is not possible. If you have any stereo source, record on the stereo tracks. You can record on a mono track, or 2 mono tracks and move then to stereo tracks.

I use a 2488 Neo and the concept is the same, but 12 mono tracks and 6 stereo like DP24. The only difference is that on Neo I don't need to copy I just assign the virtual tracks to another channel (I can copy also).

Keep in mind that you have 8 mono tracks and 12 stereo tracks and you can assign any input to any channel.

Hi Guillaume the last post is quite correct however if you are recording your 32 tracks at different times you can group any number of tracks for a bounce to an open stereo channel. This is an obvious limitation of the machine and will require a bit of talent and some luck to pre-mix a group of audio tracks that cannot be undone. Alternativly you can record to the sd card as a file and download that into a DAW as many times as needed and then mix and match your tracks as 32 independant channels. Hope this helped and best of luck

G....

On my DP 24 I dedicate my STEREO tracks to anything that comes from my KORG TRITON EXTREME keyboard...so Keynoard drums/drum machine 23/24....stereo piano 21/22.....stereo strings 19/20.....stereo pads 17/18.....if I want STEREO Background vocals I will put on 15/16 etc,. etc....

I use tracks 1-12 for anything MONO....Bass, acoustic Guitar.....you can also use stereo as mono as said....

More than enough tracks to make a full production IMO.....

That's how I do it
