Hello,
I´m Juan from Spain, and I have some questions about the machine (I want to buy the DP32).
I want to upgrade my old Fostex VF16 (hard disc recorder)

I want it for two things:
- Practicing in my drum room, record, listen, etc..
- Tracking drums and transport them in the SD card to my computer for mixing (in different room).

1. I think I miss the scene feature: store the EQ levels that you like, pan, etc...so you can go to them just with one click (scene type)
Is it possible ? If not, which EQ settings are stored when you turn on/off the machine, the last EQ settings?

2. Are the audio files in the SD (when you take them to the computer) raw, without EQ and effects ?

3. Is it possible to record with the EQ and reverb ON but without recording the EQ or reverb, and add them later (monitoring with EQ and Effects)
For example, I am playing along a song with the tascam, (monitored with headphones) but I like to have same reverb/EQ while I´m playing but that EQ is not the final EQ/effect that I want, so I can put them later.

I would be grateful if you answer me those questions.

Thanks in advance.

1. What's missing from scene is just the fader levels. All current EQ, FX, Pan, etc are saved properly with the song. I don't think you can do "presets". Too bad.
2. It depends on how you use the FX. If you use them on the inputs, then yes, they are written to disk on the track, and can't be removed. If you use them as sends on the track, then no, they are not written to disk, only the "dry" input is recorded.
3. Yes. Use send effects on the track.

I´m checking the DP32.
Before I do a large review of it, I´ve discovered that there isn´t a phones control.
There is a MONITOR knob, that control the speakers and phones in the same button.

Is there a way to alternate between the speakers and headphones ?

When I want to listen to a track carefully through the headphones, I can´t if I disconnect the speakers before.

If not, this is a mistake from Tascam.

Help?

Why not run the speakers off the stereo (main) outputs? What else would you use them for? Or ... buy a simple speaker switch that would allow you to mute the monitor output to the speakers while listening to phones.

I bought a little 2 channel mixer for control the speakers.
I like to have the two sound monitoring forms: headphones and speakers and easily change from one to another, depending of the type of listening I want (looking for some noises in the drums, reverb, etc...).

I am starting to love the DP32, but there are some things I would like to be better (later review).

Thanks.

I use a outboard mixer for the monitor mix, also allows me to do multiple headphone mixes. I have a SX4882 Eurodesk.
