Hi There & thank you for letting me join the group!! I recently got a Tascam 008 ex and am absolute and complete novice to any recording devices. Am trying to work out the basics and using user guide but am so ...nervous/lacking any knowledge etc, wanted to ask for some directions. For now just want to record guitar and vocals, Friend has recorded some vocals, next steps getting guitar recorded in synch! These questions may have been posted before & apologies for any repetition.... Is it possible to hear what is being recorded through any external amp/speaker... & if yes, whats the best/most reasonable speaker device for this? Can guitar, electric or acoustic, be recorded with effects pedals signal , like delay pedal or otherwise? I have Marshall MG30 dfx, 4 jack in puts, footswitch, CD in, emulated line out headphones and guitar jack. Ideally would like to record vocal and guitar at same time,

Apologies if these are, (most likely) very basic questions, but I really have no idea re these capabilities/how to set up..

Any directions very much appreciated

Thanks

Mick

Well first thing. - if you recorded the vocals - do you have a guide/scratch track?

Hi & thank you for getting back to me on this. I didnt know what a scratch track was!! Have recorded the vocals on the Tascam 008, thats all. Am totally at 1st stages with this. I know I need spend some time getting the basic workings and next step is to record/align guitar bit with the vocal track-2 tracks, as such, for now. Unsure if should just plug in microphone for vocals part, and guitar jack and try record both at same time. Again , need work out the basics , unfortunately nothing basic about it for me. I want to start from scratch on this, its basically a cover, supporting a singer, then get singer to to that track and add to guitar part....Next thing being , if do both at same time using 2 inputs, can it be put through an amplifier so can hera what we are doing!! I know need work out sound levels etc, the trim function. My friend has been more looking at the process than me, the singer.

Sorry for all the questions & thanks again for getting back to me

Best

Mick

You can record up to two tracks at once.
The tracks are in pairs LR LR LR LR.
You could record any left and any right.
You cannot record two lefts or two rights at the same time.
The tracks you are not currently recording can be listened to while recording.
I would plug in your guitar, with any effects chain, and a vocal mic, and record both at once.
