Can a 788 be connected to a computer for CD-burning ?
If so, how?

Maybe it could if it had digital outs, that`s the only reason I didn`t get one............or maybe I`m mistaken I think it has outs but not digital in`s ........

Here's what they say about it: "A S/PDIF digital output makes it easy to send your audio to
CD and DAT recorders for two-track masters."

So, it looks like you can you use it for burning a two-track mixdown. But can you use the SPDIF for transferring all eight tracks to your computer for mixing down on your software and big screen there? Or are you stuck with mixing on the 788?

I might be getting this unit and wanted to know if you can save the 8 tracks individually to the cdrw? or computer thru SCSI port or cdw input? It does have a digital output too.
And what are the user reviews for this unit? I've been recording on a 488 for the past 7 years and mixing down to computer using sound forge xp 4.5.
Thanks,
Russ

Its a great machine, it does save the individual track data (with undos etc) but essentially you MUST have a specific TEAC CDR (56S, 58S or RW512S) to do the job and many people find this unsatisfactory. I know I did because I couldn't get hold of one outside the US for a while, but I find it excellent in any case.

Thanks,
I been recording on it and learning things slowly but hopefully I can figure it out sometime before the end of this year, d'oh!
Gonna get the cdr788 soon. And gonna hookup a zip drive too.
Thanks again,
Russ

A 788 forum is available through www.tascam.com. Click on the picture of the 788, then look for "online forum" at the bottom of the screen. It's a good one, with a tascam professional moderating and answering questions (no offense to this moderator).

Thanks Zoom, I'm been going to the site and learning alot too!!
