Tascam 688 questions (search for free owners manual...)

Hey, I'm relatively new here. I've been poking around a bit for a while, but this is my first post. Within the past few months I bought a Tascam 688 for a pretty good price, and I want to learn how to use it, but I haven't had much time to invest in it yet. Part of the problem is also that I don't have the manual, and it seems like that would make learning to use the 688 a lot easier. I was wondering: Does anyone have a .pdf they'd be willing to share? I know you can buy the manuals on ebay, but I'm trying to avoid that. Also, if anyone has any tips they can share for someone just starting out with the 688, that would be much appreciated. Hey Chris, welcome to the site!

I have owned a 688 for about 3 yrs. and I absolutely love it. Pretty complex by my standards though. Without the manual in the beginning, I would've been lost. Even with it, I think I've barely scratched the surface.

There are at least a few owners/operators of 688s besides myself in the Analog Only forum. All of whom I bet would be happy to answer questions.

I think there are a bunch of links to pdf files out there. I did a quick search and found some dead links, but this one seems ok:

Hmmm...not unless you can read German ! Sorry dude......still looking. Wish I could make a pdf out of my manual, but that turns out to be pretty involved.

Ha, yeah, I unfortunately don't speak German, so that was only good for browsing really. I really appreciate your help though. I actually found out a friend of mine has the manual, so I was thinking about making a .pdf out of it as well, but as you said, it seems pretty involved. So we'll see...

Just to let anyone know who looks at this thread: I have borrowed my friend's 688 manual, and am in the process of scanning it in and making a .pdf of it. If anyone would like a copy, just message me. It will probably be a few days until it is done.
