Tascam 488 problem

I just recently got back into the analog recording game, bought a 488 on Ebay, and I'm not getting a signal on any channel other than #2, I guess I could record all my tracks on it then bounce to other tracks, haven't even tried that yet, damn frustrating. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a problem like this and if there is any way to fix it. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, what's the 1,2,3... on the 488, am I missing something, I thought this unit was supposed to be the creme of the crop??

This is a pretty big file, and it's for the mkII. (I'm not sure if yours is the original model 488 or the mkII, but the same principles apply.)

yeah, it is the MKII. I think I'll try to send an email to the guy I bought it from and see what the deal is, he originally said something about the Input #1 not working, we'll see. Thanks.
