Hello,
Brand new here.. love the site, glad to have the opportunity to be a part of it.
I just snatched up a Tascam 48-OB and a couple DX-4Ds for $200 from a guy who seemed to be novice/clueless. Gave the heads a good cleaning, and picked up a Tascam M-520 for another $200. Seem to have everything connected and the VU meters are definitely moving on both the board and the 8 track.
The problem is that I can't seem to get anything to tape. I can play tracks back on the repro and the sync heads that have already been recorded. The audio is definitely getting to the machine. I have the tracks armed and in input. Just wondering if I am missing something obvious...
I suppose if there isn't an obvious troubleshooting fix, should I assume that I need a new record head? If so, what do you think would be a reasonable price for parts and labor? I know a guy who could fix it, I just don't want to be ripped off.
Thanks in advance for any help/guidance!
Greg
