Yo.

I recently got a Delta1010LT that supports analog inputs from RCA cables. I bought some RCA to RCA stereo cables to hook from the tape outputs on the back of my tascam to the sound card. But when I record there's no sound coming from the control panel or in my recording software. I pretty much have no knowledge on the purposes of tape outputs, and the Tascam manual didn't really help. I was wondering what's going wrong. Is it the cables, or are the outputs not meant for this? And is it possible to use the 4track as a mixer with the tape outputs, like as in the same manner as you would using line-out? And just for extra what recorder could connect to my sound card with analog RCA cables?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you had a good idea......
i had the (almost same) idea

my plan was to record a player live on the porta studio, and go from the 4 tape outs to the house pa for the performance.

catch is though, these seem to really be "TAPE OUTS", ie coming of the tape.

your idead would theoretically work if you ran a tape thru the machine. i can feed the house pa. but when i pause to change tapes, is mutes the pa.... so the signal is really off the tape it seams.

are you trying to record 4 at a time, or can you do less....

if so, just use the main out's of the porta studio as a stereo pair going into the sound card.

Ahhh I see. Thanks man. Saved me a lot of time. I'm thinking of just buyin mic preamps and getting 1/4 to rca to connect to the sound card. The goal is to get six seperate drum mic inputs as individual tracks into Steinberg so i can edit each seperatly like high hats, left crash, floor tom, etc. and get the right e.q's and levels afterwards. Thanks again.
