hello--
this is my first post and was hoping somebody who knows this unit Kould help me out. I bought the tasKam 388 used a month ago and was in seemingly perfect Kondition until now --
I powered it on after worK today and did not hear anything out of the monitors --I then plugged in the headphones directly to the tasKam -- NO sound - not even a low hum or KraKKle --
also - the FFWD/RW/PLAY buttons do not worK anymore - and the DBX lights in the bottom Korner do not light up........???? weeeirrdd
-- made sure all the Knobs and switches were in default/normal settings as well as the Konnections in the back -- no change -- I am at a total loss for the Kause to this problem-
-the only thing I can thinK of, is that I sometimes turn the unit off by fliKKing the power switKh on the power-strip it is plugged into-- rather than turning the unit off -- not a wise move, I admit-- but enough to ruin the unit??? ---that would be bad Karma to top all bad Karmas !!!!
any insight would be greatly appreKiated-
-godspeed

Remove the top cover & test the fuses.

Chances are that you have one or more bad fuses.;)

Part 2 :ReplaKement Fuses

*(two 3A fuses were definately SHOT upon inspeKtion)
I was unsuKKessful in finding the EXAKT fuses for the unit today -- looked in about 10 different eleKtriKal stores in NY -- finally settling w/ RadioshaKk -- piKked up 3A 250 Volt Slow-Blows and one 4A Fast-AKting Fuse -- (figuring I might as well replace all of them to start fresh)-
1) is it ok to use the fast aKting fuse even though it indicates slow blow for the 4A underneath the tasKam panel?
2) Although the speKs are identical-- physiKally, the fuses are different -- the original tasKam fuses having large Koils and the new ones having very thin Koils - should I be using these radioshaKK fuses????
Any help appreKiated
Godspeed

You should be fine.

Keep a few extras on hand for emergencies.;)
