Tascam 388 control/transport maitenence

Hey

I'm in the process of restoring my 388. The record button once depressed takes a lot of time to come back up, its like someone tipped a can of coke over it. There's sticky stuff on the top. :(

I've gotten the control section out of the frame by removing the 4 allen key screws on each corner. How do I detach the wires and get inside the actual transport control, and what is the best way to clean the button contacts once I'm inside?

okay, so Ive realised that according the sweetbeats 'tascam 388 story' thread I will need to de solder behind transport buttons to get to them. anyone got good info on how to clean the button contacts/switches or where I can get replacement button contacts/switches?

well seems the coke residue is just on the sides of the buttons so was sticking to actual plate they sit in. So not going to have to put anything inside them or anything like that! was a bit of a mission to get there but all is well now. thanks to sweetbeats really!
