ok first of all i have the HD8 and zoom is definately the shit on home recording one its user friendly very friendly, nearly anyone with patience can operate it. yes the manual nmakes you jump forward and backward. i started with the mrs 1608 and moved up to the HD8, cause simply i did so much recording on the 1608, i started to get squeaky and sandy soundin inside from all the numerous tracks i layed. and let me tell you that thing does so much, even more than i had time to discover. ran out of patience and had projects to complete. anyway i did complete and produce as well as perform all the instruments for some friends who actually bought the machine and completed their cds which they still sell to this day. matter of fact they want me to come and do a christmas cd for them now, in orer to finish by xmas. but yes the zoom is the shit. it will indeed repoduce and sing harmony to your self, kind of like a pitch regenerator. it has pitch atteniaTOR ON IT AND WILL CORRECT YOUR OWN SLIGHT INDISCREPANCIES. YES. NOW HAVE WE ALL FIGURED OUT AS HOW TO DO THESE THINGS NO NOT EVEN ME. WHICH IS WHY IM ON HERE SEEING IF ANY OF MY FELLOW ZOOMERS HAVE GOTTEN SOMEWHERE I HAVENT. I HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE AND FEEDBACK FROM THE UNITS, AS I NOW HAVE THE HD 8 AND ITS GREAT I LIKE IT CUZ IT STILL HAS THE CD BURNER RIGHT ON BOARD AND THERES JUST SOMETHING ABOUT NOT LOSING OR HAVING THAt 2ND GENERATION SOUNDING FROM IMPORTING TO AN EXTERNAL BURNER I THINK, I MEAN CMAN ITS DIRECT AS YOU CAN GET. AND ANYWAY I CAN FINISH A PRODUCT AND JUGGLE MY BURN LIST ON THE SPOT AT THE LAST MINUTE VERSUS HAVEIN TO DICK WITH THE PC AND STOP AND FIX. SO ALL OF YOU ZOOMERS OUT THERE, AND (GOD HELP ME THERES SOMEONE ON AND UP AT THIS HOUR) CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO USE INSERTS LIKE INTROS AND ENDINGS WITH THE INTERNAL DRUMS AND THEM NOT SOUND LIKE EXTERNAL AND CANNED IN FROM MARS?? THAAT WOULD BE HELPFUL THANKS MICHAEL

For what it's worth. I received my 2488 last week and there was a supplement paper that said it has a 160 GB hard drive.
