Tascam 2488 hard drive replacement

Has anyone successfully replaced the hard drive on the original 2488 ? I thought I had seen a thread in this Forum, however can't seem to find it. Having problems with my machine freezing and functions not working, hoping it's the hard drive and not something within the board electronics.
