I'm wondering about the routing capabilities for a specific scenario. Let's say I've used up four tracks with acoustic guitar, bass, drums left, and drums right. I'm going to do an external bounce, mixing them down to a stereo pair, so I can return them back to two tracks and then add two more.
Let's say, while I'm doing this, I want to not only use the 246's two-band EQ on the acoustic, but I also want to run it through an external EQ to do some low shelving or hi-pass filtering. Can I use the insert to do this? For some reason, someone told me long ago that you could only use the inserts on the way in (before recording). But, looking at the picture diagram in the 246 manual, it looks as though the insert jack takes its signal right after the input select switch. This suggests that you could use the insert either while you record or while you're playing back.
Is that right?
Thanks!
