Tascam 22-2 outs to digital

I have an audio interface that accepts -10 dbv line level signals...

I'm not sure what the diff is between -10db and dbv...

I want to send mixes from my 22-2 into my computer via this interface. Will this work well considering that the interface only accepts -10 dbv? am I good to go here?:confused:
 
Short answer:
Yep, you’re all set.

Long answer:
For line levels dB is an abbreviation for dBv (also written dBu so as not to be confused with dBV) or dBm for +4 line level. -10 line level is normally measured in dBv/dBu, which it is for the Tascam 22-2. There is also dBV (capital V), which is a European standard referenced to 1 Volt. DBv/dBu is referenced to .775 volt, but it’s a bit more complicated than that.

The way dB measurements have evolved couldn’t be more confusing, but in this particular case you have a match. To make matters worse you will find conflicting info in various standard works by qualified authors.

Also keep in mind these are nominal levels. You can raise or lower the levels with an attenuator, such as those found on the 22-2, provided impedance matching is not a problem between two devices. On the 22-2 you will be at the -10 dBv nominal line level when the input and output level controls are at 7. With the controls set as such, a 1kHz test tone at -10 dBv fed to the inputs will read 0.316 volt at the outputs.

There is also maximum output to contend with, which on the 22-2 is 0dBv (1.0 volt). You’ll want to check the maximum input capability of your soundcard, which should be more than adequate for most levels if it was made in the last ten years or so.

More than you'll ever need... the higher, the better. :)

There should also be a max input level spec, which is what I was talking about before.
 
hmmm... not too sure about the max input... the manual says gain is adjustable from 0 to 65db.
