I have a Tascam 48 and I use a Tascam M-30 board. I haven't "fired" it up for a few months, but when I tried it again, I put a reel on that already had some songs on it, and half the reel was empty. When I went to record the first track, I had a signal on my VU meter, headphones, and the mixer. I went to record and 30 second sound bite and when I played it back, no sound or anything! Even the VU meters on the deck weren't moving. I checked all of my connections and everything is correct, not only am I not getting any sound, but the meters on the deck and the mixer are not moving.
What am I missing or doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help!

Make certain the deck monitor is in sync or repro mode when you play back and not input.

What Rick said. if it is in input you won't hear or see anything.

I have the sync button pushed in and lit up on the deck. I tried a new reel of tape also, but nothing.
Meters bounce when tape is rolling, but when after rewind and hitting play, nothing, no sound or meter bounceing! Yikes! I fear the worst, my Record head is dead!

Now that got me to thinking...IF my Record Head was dead, would it still register a signal on the VU's?
