Tape Cue Issues

Hi everyone,

I'm recording on a Tascam Portastudio 424MKII and the tape cue from channels 1 and 3 is much fainter than from 2 and 4....Any advice? or am I missing something really obvious?

I have tested the cue outs but have not measured them exactly. They are for monitoring but they should be relatively the same level. Maybe the recording of the deck is not correct regardless of what you see on meters. There can also be some dirt in the pots as these things get older and there are occasion that I have detected dirty switch contacts. I work on a lot of equipment and all kinds of porta studios as well as open reel machines.
