hi,

I thought I might post a lyric.

Your thoughts are appreciated

Tanya and Me

I ain't special
Just aregular guy
A bit funny lookin'
And a wee bit shy
When a doll walks by
Or we meet at a door
I just smile my best smile
And stare at the floor

I was at Barney's last
Saturday night
Sippin' on a cool one
And watching the fight
She glided in
And eased up to the bar
She was some kinda model
Or a Movie star

She bought herself a highball
And moved on in
She gave me a smile
I grinned my best grin
My face got hot and turned real red
She flipped back her hair
And then she said
"My name is tanya, who are you
I don't like Tyson, I'm a Lewis fan too."

I said "Hi, I'm nobody, Just a regular Joe'
My name is Bobby, friends call me Bo
She said I'm new around here
Don't know anyone
It's Saturday night
And I need some fun

(refrain)

Oh! To my surprise
She kissed my cheek
And squeezed my shoulder
She said "Let's get out of here
We're just sitting here getting older."

I said "Thanks very much
But I think I'll pass. I can't afford a girl
With your kind of class."
She just laughed and gave me a shove
She said "Don't sweat the money, honey
I'm just looking for love. You see Bo
I've been watching you for a week or two
Tryin' to figure out how to meet up with you
When I saw you sitting here watching the fight
I worked up my courage to meet you tonight."

(refrain)

Tanya and me is how this story ends
Life long lovers and the best of friends
Tanya and me is how this story ends
Life long lovers and the best of friends
Tanya and me is how this story ends
Lifelong lovers and the best of friends.

I wish some Tanya would do that to me :o :o :D

nice

cheers
John

Thanks, John

No Tanya has done it to me either.

But I wrote it as a fun little pub ditty.

Yup.....nice What kind of music is in your head that goes with it...I need to get the theme music to the Fresh Prince of Belair out of my head.....

You might want to take your home address out of the location part of your profile and just leave the city your closest to.

Peace,
Dennis

Atomictoyz

This thing is written as a two chord bump (F-Bb)
with a calypso feel. The refrain goes to a modified
minor break ending on the five chord. This progression
is basically a backdrop for the horn line which holds the
tension.

Thanks for your comment about my address. But how do
I fix it?

"Yup.....nice What kind of music is in your head that goes with it...I need to get the theme music to the Fresh Prince of Belair out of my head..... "

LOL.

Good lyrics.

For all you Prince of Belair fans out there

Think Van Morrison goes calypso

thanks Don,

It's fun to play,too.

I appreciate how hard it is to really provide constructive
criticism without hearing the tune.

At this point, all I can provide is a scratch recording on
cassette. If anyone is interested in hearing this tune, and
possibly others, email me and I'll send it to you.

Wow, this one slipped by me today and I'm sorry. That is one cool song and I would have been grinning all day if I had seen it earlier.

I wish I could write lyrics that are so direct and yet create such a clear picture and tell a good story.

I'd give it two thumbs up if the BBS would let me. :)

No criticisms at all. Y'know it would be easy to take that cassette recording and make an mp3 out of it. There's got to be someone who might do that- save you the trouble of mailing out more than one copy.

Thanks,
Chris

Oh, and to change your address- click on the "profile" button one the main bbs page and go to "edit profile." You'll see it.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your kind words.

I am taking your advice and getting some MP3 capability,
but it's going to take a while. In the meantime cassettes
will be available for the asking.

PS. I will now go and try fixing my address. Driving this
darn computer is pretty new to me.(if I could only
figure out where to put in the gas!)

The city that Quesnell is closest to...

Do you think that Prince George will help these americans any?:D

Or 100 Mile House! Or Barkerville!

Did some treeplanting in that area some 10 years ago.

For the song, I'm imagining a finger-picking rambling type song, like a talking blues.
Or more Astral Weeks?

Hey Eric,

We still got a few trees, if we ever sell 'em.

Not a bad idea, as mentioned above, I'll send you a tape if
you want a listen. Canada Post will have to do until I get
this computer thing figured out.

The tune,as it stands is a stripped down horn band thing.

Hell, I even use horn lines when I attempt to write country.

It comes out sounding a little like Dr. John.

Glad to hear from a neighbour!

Hi everyone,

I got mp3 files up and running thanks to you

I'll post this to Tunesmith-----Sorry, haven't learned links yet

I thought it flowed together very nicely. It seemed natural.
