I have a Heil Talk Box, and I am clueless about it. I made my purchase a whle back on ebay when I thought ebay was the cool way to go about it. I have not ever dealt with anything like a talk box before. I play guitar yes, but do not consider myself great on any standards, I am in the process of teaching myself lead techneques as well as sound control. So I have a ton of stupid questions, like, what do you need a microphone for? And what kind of amps can you use with it and can you not use with it? Any info would be welcome and helpful as long as it is in Lamen's terms. Thanks.

The deal with the talkbox is inside there is a piezo/compression driver that sends your guitar sound through the tube which you place in your mouth. You don't need a mic to use it, only to record or be heard over a PA. I never messed with a real one ( I made one once that just plugged into the speaker jack on my amp) so I don't know what kind of hookups they have to switch between it and the amp's speakers.

It works by feeding the line jack of your amp into the talk box. The output goes through the plastic tube into your mouth. You move your mouth as the signal travels from the inside of your mouth into the microphone. You don't make any vocal noises while doing it, just moving your mouth (while playing guitar) to manipulate the signal.

You can also mic the amp simultaneously if you wish. And if that doesn't keep you active you can add a wah pedal to your chain to really mess with people's patience.

Outside of recording, the long plastic tube can be used in many sexual situations, as well as for gas siphoning.

The box is very heavy and can be used for a cumbersome paperweight, a toe stubber, or doorstop.
