Can anyone recommend a robust keyboard/digital piano that is currently available. It doesn't need to be portable.

Kind of depends on what you are looking for. I use an Alesis QS8, mainly as a controller. The sounds are pretty "bread and butter" but will support other sounds okay in a mix. I think they are priced reasonably for an 88 key weighted action keyboard... and I like the action. Others don't. For my two cents!

I've always thought Korg and Yamaha had the best action and build quality. The Rolands always seemed to mushy and the Kurzweils, Alesis and Technics a little too cheap.

I worked with a keyboard player who used to just punish the older Korgs and they held up pretty well. The Yamaha P series is a great value and it's very portable as far as 88 keys go.

I haven't played one, but I've seen great reviews for the Roland RD700. On the other hand, I have always been frustrated by Roland equipment.

I'd go along with Tex on Yamaha and Korg build quality (my flimsy KARMA keyboard notwithstanding). I have been using a Yamaha KX88 for 17+ years with nary a problem. It's built like a tank!
