I did a midi peice in Sonar 5. At end of piece it trails off nicely. When I change from midi to audio with Bounce to Tracks command so I can burn to CD, the end of song trail is gone. It just cuts off. I added reverb to overall track. It does work but I wanted track dry. Also tried just exporting midi tracks as WAVE. (I read once that you need not convert soft synth tracks to audio, I forget where in these pages) But there was no sound. Didnt seem to work.
I even Set the Options/Audio/Adnaced setting to "Play effect Tails" (But it seems not to make a difference, probably becuase there are no effects)
Any ideas why the trail cuts off when converting midi to audio , any trick I can use to keep trail even if dry? Hope this made sense. Thanks

On a MIDI track, try adding a note, doesn't matter which and on what track, a good 4 to 6 bars after that actual end of your song. Sonar will now continue to play after the end of your song and won't stop any effects tails. It doesn't matter if that extra note you've added plays because you'll edit that out in your favorite wave editor.

Sonar only bounces/exports the selected range. When the effect or instrument tail is outside this range, it gets cut off.

The selected range is shown on the time ruler at the top of your project, and in the Select toolbar. You can edit it using either. In the toolbar, just punch in a new "thru" time. Add as many seconds or bars as you need to capture the full instrument decay and release. Alternately (and the method I use,) you can click on the time ruler while holding down <ctrl> to extend the selected range.

ah, that makes sense. I will try that next time. I already used the Synkrotron method which worked great too. Thanks
