sysex & live

Can someone talk me through the procedure of recording a bulk dump from my JP8000 to Live 5?

I have both manuals and i have figured out how to initiate the dump from the jp8000, but recording it is giving me a headache.

Use Midiox.

Unless there is a very compelling reason for you to try a sysex dump into Live like morphing a patch on the fly or something --- which you can do much more effectively using continuous controllers --- use the shareware that's made to recieve and file sysex dumps on your computer.

thanks man. i actually found an opensource sysex librarian for mac osx so i'm good. thanks though :)
 
speaking of sysex and live, is there a way to have it pass sysex? It seems to filter all incoming sysex by default and for the life of me I cant find where to turn off the filter. Kinda blows since my master controller is programmed completely in sysex

Would've been nice to include the very important two words 'for Mac' in your original question.

And altitude, I think that may be part of a future update --- Live 6.0 is right around the corner and they've promised to add features that make it 'more like a regular DAW'. There's nothing in the PDF manual for V. 5.2 that says anything about sysex.

i know and it's weak. :( . I need a good sysex implementation for the way that I work, and something that does not match Cubase in that regard, I can't really consider a serious midi sequencer and I would LOVE to have live be one.

On an unrelated note, thats the reason I cannot stand sonar. I had a chance to play around on my buddies machine and he was ranting about his new 6.0 version. I took me about 30 seconds to crash the whole deal to the point where a hard reset was required with a 4 bar sequence with sysex automation riding the filter and res. I want my ST back
