Switching Chords

Ok, hi. I know the title makes it look like a super noob question, but I'm actually having trouble with this! How do I switch power chords seemlessly for recording purposes. So for example:

How can i switch from C5 to E5 without making it sound really bad (ie. Buzz, dead notes). It's pretty fast, 89BPM. I don't know why this is so hard, I can play riffs and solos fine. Cheers
 
yeah man ..... nothing is gonna do it but practice ...... there are no tricks that are gonna make it easier.
I can do that easily but I've been playing 50 years so that's a lotta practice.

Just work and work and work and work till you think you'll never get it and then *pow* ... one day it will suddenly be easy and it'll always be easy forever more after that.
It's a weird thing how that works .....

And rhythm is it's own thing ....... I've seen lots of shredders that play crappy rhythm ...... it's a good skill to have.
 
Try releasing the pressure with your fretting hand without taking your fingers all the way off of the strings. This will mute the strings and you can keep your 16th-note strumming uninterrupted while you change positions to fret the next chord.

Also, you can use open strings to help mask the transition between chords. Transitioning to an E5, you can try sounding only the low E string while you reposition your hand to the 2nd fret.
 
Practice, practice, practice
And remember, always start slow, almost too slow, and build up speed bit by bit! Starting slow is the key thing here!
 
If you are playing a fast chord progression, break it down into sections. Then glue em all back together. I always taught peeps to practice changes, faster than normal.

Makes you more comfortable/smooth, playing at normal speed.
 
I don't get it? If you can play at all, you should be able to do this. It seems pretty basic. I'm sure there is something more complicated going on than just switching from C to E, like the rhythm or something, so, as everyone has said...PRACTICE.
 
I just played this and I don't want to sound like a dick but it is among the easiest of pieces to play. Switching from C5 to E5 was just the movement of my index finger down one fret, no buzzes, no missed notes. Then the jump (gosh that makes it sound hard) to A5 was a movement of just one string that you can do in between beats. Can even do that with bar chords without missing a beat.

Can you record yourself playing this so we can hear what the problem is?
