Sweeps and Crossfades?

I think i might know what these are but i dont use the same terms,

Crossfades- 2 guitartracks one pan'd left one pan'd right?

Sweeps- I lied i have no idea what this means.


I guess I am asking for a little 101.
 
crossfading is fading one track out while fading the other track in (volume fades)
sweep....um, not really sure what you mean by this. but you might mean a pan sweep....panning a track from left to right
