I've been using Cakewalk for probably 4 months now. I've got a friend that lives several states away that purcahsed the same version that I have, and we are wanting to work on a few projects together. E.I. swapping files back and forth and building off each other, etc. To make sure I was doing it right, I copied a save file to a cd and popped it in my laptop to make sure that it copied over right, the only thing that copied over was the views and what not of the program, when I pressed play, there was no audio there to play. So I assume I'm going to have to go back and copy each saved track file, etc etc. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Save it as a Cakewalk bundle file.

I think you can also designate project folders which will contain the Cakewalk project file and all the audio; then you could copy that whole project folder over.

Sweet! I'll give that a whirl. Thanks!!!!!

AlChuck's got it right. If you save it as a project file (.cwp) it will not include the audio. If you save it as a bundle (.cwb) the audio will be included.

As the project grows, you might find that the size of the bundle file will have grown beyond the capacity of CD. If so, you will have to switch to the other method he recommended - per project audio files. If you set up Sonar for per project file system, it will place all the audio files for a particular song (project) in one single directory. You can then copy that directory to as many CD's as needed.

I'll check that out too, I assume I can just go into "options" or something like that and change how it saves? I'm at work atm, I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks for the tip!

Options > Global > Audio Data

check the box for "use per project audio folders."

I was just thinking about that actually, my dvd bruner fried about a month ago in the recording box, I wasn't too miffed about it then, but I think it just made me cry irl. :D

I'm fairly new to Cakewalk in the aspect of functions and toys, though I've used it for the past few months, just haven't tinkered with it too much, are there more effects I can get for it? If so where and how much?

Pretty much anything on the market. SONAR supports both DirectX plug-ins and VST plug-ins through a VST-to-DX wrapper. Not just effects, either, but instruments -- softsynths -- DXi and VSTi. Life is wonderful on a computer

Hell I reckon! I guess that'll give me something to occupy some more time with. Woot!
