titled sunset eyes 2002.....right at the top

thanks
jamal.

Ha!! See my critique of David's latest. That Cmajor to Cminor change stands out. I'm a sucker for that.

Nice lead. I miss my Les Paul. Nice Vocals. Nice mix.

How about some drums?

les pauls are GREAT gtrs.

sure doesn't sound like one though... but a good sound, never the less.

there is a lack of ambience on the vocals...or none that I can hear. This is a tough one to mix, it appears...and my first thought would be to bring up the vocals and add some reverb to them...

I'd also highlight the lead gtr licks without stepping on the vocals. I also think this kind of production definately needs drums. The jangly gtrs become a bit all the way thru the song. The lead solo has a nice feel to it. If you can "tuffin' it up"..that would be cool too. the bass kinda peeks out there, now and then too.

nice tune.

i really like the vocal harmonies.......very nice............good song.........i would agree that drums could add to the track, but it does sound fine w/o them......

good guitar tones too........how do you like the les paul?

Nice song....very cool harmonies....is the bass out of tune just a little bit on a few lower notes?....I like the song a lot.....I agree it could use some sort of percussion.............sounds like a Paul to me....................nice work!

I agree that it does kind of sound like some drums should kick in at some point, but that's only because it's what we've come to expect with songs of this sort that start sort of quiet. I don't miss the drums at all though - it sounds great as is.

The vocals definitely need some tweaking though. When you get them out more clearly from the rest of the mix this'll be a hellofa solid recording. Nice job.

Chris

Jam all,

This actually sounds like your cleanest recording to date... there's still some "haze" in there... cloudiness around the vocals or something, but those acoustics sound very nice. You'll love the LP... which model is it? The song idea comes across well.

This is a nice song... you have a good way with lyrics...

Sounds like you've borrowed the autotune there (2:46 on the BGV  ) Track the VOX a bit cleaner if possible, slap some drums in there if you want, and call it good... or hell, allow me--

It's good :)

Nice song. Nice little unexpected chord changes thrown in. Interesting harmonies. Nice lyrics, or at least a good line here and there.

Did the vocals from 2:15-2:20 have some distortion and a pop?

Overall good job. I liked it.

You sound like somebody who used to frequent this board. His name was "Jamal Buchet," which is a weird coincidence when you think about it.

I like this tune better than anything the other Jamal did.

Peace
:D

ahhhhhh.... dude, you had me at "walkaway". Excellent tune. Like ChuckU, I'm a sucker for the major to minor change. I love that. Nice vocals. Very purrrrrrrty.

...nicotine and alcohol.....
......sadly, friends of mine as well:(
Great song Jamal. At first I thought the verb on the vocs was a bit rich, but after a second listen, I dont think so. Diggin that new guit. huh? .....good guitars dont need no steenking wammy bars:D Beautiful song bro.... nice writing.

Great song!

I really liked this Jamal. The new paul sounds sweet...I bet it stay's in tune a lot better than that fender huh? Like the reverb, it suits your voice I think very well. Hey has that "WATER BROKE YET?":D hehe, I know you'll be glad when it get's here! Enjoyed your tune man.

Hey Jamal,

First off, nice song. LIked the writting and mood.

The vocal track sounds kinda dirty. Maybe the effects used. Just some hissy, scratchy thing that the other tracks didn't suffer from.

Guitar tracks sound very nice!! Bass is well placed and played.

I like your singin'..........
I was waiting for a solo that never came (story of my life:D )

Heard some extranious noise/bangin around in the studio on the exit.

Well written and played song. Could use some polish but, I don't have the bottle.

THanks for the listen,

Peace,
Theron.

Really nice Jamal!
Guitar tone is great, and I really dig your vocals, sweet!

Truly a great song,very moving.
(I remember those days well,nowadays it's just nicotine):D

I enjoyed very much,thanks,
Pete

(I wonder if it's too late to delete the crap I just posted!):p

chad:...yeah i know i know there is some auto tune in there..but i like the effect ...im not a purist...by any means...what ever it takes to get the best possible sound out there.."BY ANY MEANS"..thats my new motto...the guitar is a studio..i think its a 93' you can see it in the "ads" forum i got it from hard2hear...i cant put it down .....im guessing its like driviing a new porshe for the first time or something......thanks man im not even real thrilled with this song...im sorta sick of it......

Very nice! I don't really think this needs drums...maybe a shaker or tamborine or something, but I think drums would kill the vibe.

I like the sound you got on the guitar. The vocals sounded good (well sung) but the mix sounded a little bassy...maybe bringing out the vocals a tad or adding a little eq to them...imhop...might help...

Very nice job, good lyrics and well played!

:)

You can do some very cool stuff with shakers and a cabasa. Also congas might be cool.

JAMAL'S GONNA' BE A DADDY!!!!

God help us all.

I don't have his permission to post this, but I know Jamal has mentioned in the past (hell, in this thread) that he and Michelle are expecting their first child.

I heard from Jamal this morning, and they were on their way to the hospital to find out why she's been having those pesky contractions since last night. :D :D

Anyway, if he doesn't respond to posts here, that's why. As far as I know, everything's normal. I'll let you know when the world has one more white Jamal in it.

:D

i hear percussion on everything Jamal :). So there is room for some subtle stuff i think.

i like the song. it sounds definitely different from your other songs. nice chord changes.

what was the sound at 1:19 in the background? it almost sounds like a moog patch or something......which come to think of it would sound cool on this tune as well.

can't comment on the mix too much cause headphones are bad and 128 mp3 is just really harsh.

best of luck with fatherhood. i cannot remember anything that happened before ours came along roughly 21 months ago.

Very nicely written song. I didn't pay close attention to the lyrics, but what I heard I liked.

Like Guernica, I too have spent too much time with "nicotine and alcohol." Gave up the nicotine almost a year ago (although I could still go for one). The alcohol's another story. :)

Keep it up, man, and good luck with the baby.
