sweeeet i found a guy in town who actually builds custom amps and stuff. he said he can bias my amp for me and stuff.

edit: you can tell i'm an idiot because i end two sentences in a row with "and stuff", and stuff.

Tell him that you want it primarily for bass. He might replace the resistor on the input jack with a value better suited for bass.

That amp has 6550's, while your retubing, i would suggest the conversion to 7027's. These tubes, while are basically the same, the 7027's have a VERY warm tone, and way powerful..

Just a thought...

Okay, this is from memories of when these were new, but as I recall, Dynaco used a bias voltage EQUAL to a fresh 1.5 volt battery.

The idea was that you could measure the actual DC voltage of a fresh 1.5 Volt battery, note the marking on your VOM, then adujust the tube bias till it matched the battery voltage mark on your meter.

wow... not sure 1.5 volts or there about would affect it at all.... the only schemo i could find was for the "S" not a "T" and it shows an available bias voltage of -55volts... the "s" was the guitar equivelent... the variability allows for minor diffs in the rail voltages from factory spec and condition of supply filters...full rail voltage BTW is 480 volts so be carefull...

I don't think that was the actual bias voltage, only the voltage that appeared at the amp's test point. You adjusted the bias until the voltage at the test point equaled a fresh 1.5V battery.

you should be able to sell that head for a grand or more. they are in high demand these days...no I'm not kidding.

edit: if I were you I'd ebay that one for a mega profit and buy a real bass amp.
