sunn amps

I play through a Sunn head, don't recall exactly which model it is, but I think it's a lead. From the Sunns I've seen, they are very very loud and great for loud rock/punk/etc. or any other kind of music where you're concerned more with volume than with getting a specific sound. I'm not an expert on "tone" but I have a feeling that other people on this board would not recommend them for a superclean sound or anything. But if you're looking for cheap and loud, I would recommend the Sunn, I'm pretty happy with mine.

I dont know anything about the new sunn amps if there are any, but all of the older ones I have played (when they were new) were not worth the wood the cabinet was built from.
Sunn at one time made a deal with hendrix, all his amps for free and he tried it and gave them up and went back to the marshalls.

Sunn

Ok then - Sunn is a company with many years of history and quite a few models - some of the lower power tube heads like Sorrado, Solaro, and 200s sound quite decent - not far from a fender bassman.

the 200 watt tabe bass 2000t I think - is a really nice mid power bass amp.

last the model t heads are real warhorse 200 watt multi-purpose heads.

Oh yeah - the 2-15" 200t bass cab from the 70's is one of the best of the breed.

Other than that, I suppose the are worthless as Dragon suggests.

well, i already own a sunn beta lead 2*12 combo. it doesnt sound great with the individual channels, but you can blend the a and b channels together to get a pretty decent distortion. also, adam jones from tool replaced the mesa/boogie dual rectifier in his rig for a sunn beta lead when they recorded lateralus, although he didnt use it live(when i saw them in september, he used a marshall and two diezels). its just that this amp really doesnt sound like anything else, i was just curious about your opinions. thanks.
