Beautiful song Emeric--love the simple piano part "simple lines intertwining" it reminds me of "lick my love pump" a bit actually...j/k man.......I can't comment on the mix-except to say it sounds pretty darn good through my computer speakers-the vocal performance was very good. Definite beatle type thing going on, but in a much more haunting style. kinda Floyd style atmosphere.....nice

I'm gonna say something a tad controversial (seeing as everyone else is saying the opposite)...I actually think the Piano is a little harsh. I mean it sounds nice, has a nice resonance and sustain, but the attack is a little too harsh (but then it is a nanopiano)....

Steinberg 'TheGrand' would absolutely rock on this song...as its very good for 'piano only' songs and not much cop for pop or arrangements...

Dude....would love you to send me the midi file and let me whack it through the grand to see what it sounds like......

Vocals are top. sit just sweet in the mix.

Very nice tune, Emeric. The two note piano thing, always like that sort of deal. Have you heard Paul McCartney's song called C'mon People? Reminds me of that, but his does go very big. I probably would have liked the drums kicking in to a steady beat, and then maybe cutting back out, not necessarily a big production, just piano, bass, and drums, I love that sound, like Plastic Ono Band. Or, if not into kicking in, maybe edit down a bit shorter.

Yup Steinbergs 'The Grand'. A pretty memory intensive 3 CD jobby, but well worth it for the sort of stuff your doing. I wouldnt recommend it for large pop arrangements or anything that needs a piano to blend in. But for piano pieces its amazin. Closest thing youll get to a full scale Steinway grand.

Very nice....the simplicity is what really makes it. I do agree with Macle that it would have been cool to go 'big' in the middle and then have stuff drop out and end it with just the simple sound from the beginning. But it stands just fine as it is. Glad to see you around, weren't you leaving forever or something like that?

Hey Macle. You know, I had this suspician about a McCartney tune after recording this. I knew what CD it was on, and was somewhat hesitant to listen to it, in case I subconciously ripped it off (I didn't want to know, you know?). I wasn't sure of what tune - you picked the one! Out of curiosity, I dug up the CD with C'mon People and listened to it. It doesn't sound like a rip off to me, and I'm glad of that. Impressed on the colliding observation! Thanks for checking the tune out!

jake-owa: Thanks for the listen. A big crash would be cool, I double tracked an 18" crash, a bit far off of the effect I wanted, but will have to do for now.

Nickhall: You're too generous. I can hear some timing inconsistences in a few spots. I blame my controller keyboard because the keys are not weighted. Always blame the tools you know?

Lt. Bob: Thanks. The big thing could be done, but I doubt I will get back to this one. I have major problems when it comes to songs. I spend to much time on them, and end up hating them more by the time I get them 'finished'. So my current plan is just to get as good a rough done in the time alloted, and mix it later. No adding tracks 2 years later.

Leaving forever? Was I supposed to?

Well, I'm the king of thieves! But, yeah, your's is not a ripoff at all, goes off in a completely different way. And, far be it from me to throw stones in that department! Actually, on a song I've got called Buzz Is Over, at the end, I do a similar thing on piano (not a ripoff, I don't think, either, just that 2 note kind of thing), so I think that's why it caught my ear straight away. That's cool you know that McCartney CD (Off The Ground), I always think no one knows those less than successful ones. Some great songs on there.

Anyway, great tune, please forgive my babbling.

Well... the first note reminded me of Chicago, anyway

Oh yeah... that Beatles influence is there... "I've got a lifetime addiction..."... an almost even blend of McCartney and Lennon...

Some cymbal swells would work really well in the build up, or maybe some soft tom rolls...

Of course, the song may not be long enough for that Kind of a haunting toon... very simple, and mood changing... it's one of those moods that's hard to put a finger on... sad, but secure and resigned... or something...

Great to have talent like yours to learn from on this board... now if we could just get the other great "E" to come back (Erland)...
