Wad up. I am just wondering if it is possible to use a 12 inch sub speaker and a box I built for it for my studio subwoofer to go alongside my bx5's. Also how would I hook them up and make them work together?

Most entry level car audio subs are 4 ohm, so check what ohm rating it is and just make sure to match your amp your using to power it with, and the subs ohm/wattage ratings, and youll be fine.

The only real difference between subs is enclosure type/size and output.

Since its already in an enclosure, Im sure its acoustically matched, unless its a prefab deal (ie: best buy) but as long as its close to the recomennded airspace youll be good.

Im not familiar with the BX5s, but if they have a sub out, that would run to the power amp that would be driving the sub.

You definately need a crossover if you plan on trying this. The box must be built to sub's specifications ie. airspace, volume, material, seals, ports etc. Are the BX5s active or passive? What amp are you going to use? If you give us more info we might be able to help you.

Yes I got the sub and a friend and I built the box for it. It was origionally for a car but I am trying to find the cheapest way to add some bass to my studio. I am not sure what amp I am going to get yet. Wasnt sure if this was going to work or not. Do you recommend me doing this or would it be easier just to buy a sub that would work with my bx5's. If so is there any sub that I can get for 200$ or less that would work good?
Thanks sorry I am kind of new to this stuff

I have a m-audio mobilepre. I got like 4 12" speakers. Boxes built and everything, I got crossovers, amps, all that. Is it possible to hook them up in my studio.

Setup:

12">>>Amp>>>???>>>Mobilepre>>>Computer
