Stuttering track

I'm having a problem that oddly occurs in only one song, and on only two tracks. When I play this song, the two guitar tracks stutter like a skipping cd, and I can't get them to play correctly.

I initially suspected a memory issue, but I have this song has a relatively small number of tracks. Other songs with many more tracks don't experience this problem. Then I suspected it may have to do with the number of real-time effects being applied, or possibly one specific effect. I mostly have just reverb and EQ, but I'm using the AnalogX sample slide plugin as well to give the guitars a bit more space in the stereo image.

When I drop all of the effects, the song plays correctly. When I add them back in the problem eventually returns.

I have two questions: 1, does anyone know why this is happening? 2, I thought I may be able to eradicate this by dropping the sample slide effect and shifting the track manually, but I can't figure out how many 'ticks' to shift it by. I see that there are 120 ticks to a quarter note under Options > Project, but I have no clue how many quarter notes there are to a second.

Anyone have any ideas?

I think you've answered your own question.
Try raising your latency, that may help.

The amount of quarter notes per minute is dependent on the BPM.
BPM X 4=1/4NPM.

If you are trying to create space by 'sliding"the sample you could just use a delay and pan the wet and dry signals hard left and right.
Beware of phasing issues.
Seeing as you are using analog-X,I do believe they have a free delay calculater that may help you out with what your trying.

Then again there's always the trial and error method of dragging the clip.As youi get closer raise the width/resolution of the track with the "+" on the bottom of the track view. This will allow for finer adjustment.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the reply...

What is my latency and how do I raise it? I that a buffer time?

The sample slide effect works well when it plays correctly. But since I was having this problem I thought I might try dragging the clip. That's why I needed to know how to find the BPM, so that then I could determine the ticks per minute and slide the sample by the correct number of ticks (CPA9 won't let me slide by decimal values of a second).

So...how do I find the BPM? Is that the velocity of the metronome? If so is it the "First Beat" or the "Other Beats?"

These values is the notes the metronome playes. Doesen't have anything to do with the BPM...

Is it now we say "RTFM"? ;)

So where are the BPM?

and what is RTFM? I honestly think I spend more time trying to figure out what all of the online acronyms mean than would have been needed to spell them out.

Peter

Read again what acidrock wrote... BPM (Beats per minute) is the TEMPO of your song... the first thing you set when you open new project (usualy). TPM is Tick Per Measure (96, 120, 480, 960, etc...). TPM used on MIDI event timing accuracy.

RTFM is Read The F***n' Manual...

Well, I did RTFM, but the FM didn't tell me S.

I know what BPM means, the problem was that when I looked at the metronome, the options I mentioned before were the only 2 available. Now I found where it lists the BPM. Hooray.

You get it, eh? :D Now, make some music. Good luck!

I do not know the abbreviation to the word abbreviation!

LOL.:D

But aren't they really acronyms? Which is a tad shorter than abbreviations! :D

Ah, damn, you're right dachay. Why do I post in here? Everything I say is incorrect!

You guys suck. You make me feel stoopid.

Just play "Downer of a Day" and we will all sit down and shut up in awed silence.
