Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit currently installed
M-Audio FW 1814 interface

Currently using Cubase 5 32bit, and the more plug ins i add, the slower it becomes, untill eventually it stutters, and plays occasionally.

I know alot of people moand about the M-Audio interface, but it does the same thing when using my standard built in soundcard

What can i do to sort this out? different os, try to get a 64bit DAW, more ram, special software, idk

Help :)

do you have a lot of 3rd party plug-ins installed?

Have you tried reinstalling cubase?

Cubase 5 is 64bit. You can choose to install either 32 or 64. I'd try installing the 64bit.

Maybe it is your Buffer settings , or maybe you don"t have enough ram to run all those plugins ......

I had the same problem as you. Only mine was an Asus with 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of ram, and Windows XP 32 Bit.

Anything with high track count, and alot of vocal plug-ins, and FX busses, would slow down and stutter during play back/recording occasionally. I haven't found a good fix for this, but I would try upgrading the ram, turning all background services off, using it in strictly for music. Doing a disk clean up, and defrag.

I just upgraded, and use this computer now in Afghanistan as a beater upper.
