stupid question ,how do you use your mic

hello all, previously I used shure sm58 but as my ear demand for better vocal track I got KSM 32 and AKG c4000b but now my vocal track are so blunt and have to boost Hi Eq almost to the max and still not achieve the sound of sm58 , ( I am using the inboard pre amp of my korg d 1600 ) , please help.

I know this sounds like i am joking, but it's the only thing I can think of:

Please make sure you are singing into the FRONT side of the mic.

There is no way, if used properly, that either of those mic's should have less hi-frequency content than an SM58. If you had only one mic there might be the possibility of something being wrong with the mic - but since you have the same problem with two, that is unlikely.

The only other possibility that occurs to me is that your preamp is not outputting enough phantom power. Take the mics to a music store and plug them into a mixer with phantom power and test them with headphones. If they work in the store, then there is probably something wrong with your Korg.
