stupid question...acid

when i copy and paste part of a file in, it bumps the rest of the track over.

how do i just make it paste in and overlay what could be there. i have to zoom out, paste, then move it over to where i want it. it didn't always do this...and i've been poking around in the settings and can't find what it would be called.
 
ok...so its not in the preferences...there's just different ways of pasting...regular paste, insert paste, and paste at play cursor. i'll just have to remember to hit Y instead of ctr+v. neat
 
nah...i've used acid for a long while...i think this is just new with the upgrade to 6.0d

i just have tolerated it for a while.
 
ok ok...so Y just pastes in the wave i'm using...

i want it to paste in like i was pressing Y but not paste the last wave in use, but what is in my clipboard that i copied.

Oh, I see. I'm still using version 4 (though I did upgrade to 5 but I don't use it because it seems to be a resource hog). I'm not really into MIDI, so I use Vegas for my multitracking needs.

Be warned - if I do upgrade to Acid 6 I may be buggng you with questions! :D
 
version 4???? aaaaaaaah. i could not go back to that now.

the multitracking is just a huge plus for it.
 
you have to turn off snapping, i believe its the little icon at the top with a cursor with a star next to it or something..

what are you questions mad? i might be able to answer

Seems to be the exact opposite for me using Acid 6. Ctrl-Y shifts the clip over to the right like you illustrated. Ctrl-V overlaps and crossfades the two clips.
