Im new to recording and I need help setting things up. To start, I have CEP1.2 and Acid Xpress on my computer (300mhz 4.3GB 64MB basic Soundcard 1Line 1Mic 1Out). Im just starting remember. I have a Samson Mixpad9 (9 channel mixer),2 Samson R11 Microphones, a Yamaha DJX Keyboard, Boss DR550 drum machine(borrowed), and an AKAI S20 Sampler(also borrowed). I also have a 6x4x24 CD Burner. The funny thing is I dont know how to hook everything up together (ie. no wires) Please advise what I need to do to hook everything up. Do I really need the borrowed equipment? Is what I have suffice for now or Im already below minimum standards. Yeah I borrowed cause Im broke. I have no monitors either

The Samson Mixpad must have some kind of outputs. Maybe a left/right stereo Output?

If this is the case, you need cables and a means of adapting the cables. Your soundcard is 1/8", your mixpad is 1/4" or RCA(?).

Another thing you will need is a 1/8" stereo that splits to 2 1/4" female connectors. You take your 1/4" outputs from your mixer into this.

Not much more I can say, maybe a bit more information as to what exactly the problem your having is.

I guess I just need to know how to hook the mixer to the computer. Do I connect the aux out to the line in and the computer out to the aux return? Mixer main out to amp or speaker.

The Aux out's are for effects, etc... You could use them to send the signal to the computer, using the Aux send level to control the level. It would be better to use the L/R stereo outputs (main mix) for this.
What are you using to monitor the sound? Run the line out from your soundcard into your power amp, home stereo, or whatever. This way you will be monitoring what is going into the computer and not what is going into the board to be sure that your a hearing exactly what is going in. Hook eveything else up to the mixer and route what you need with it to the computer. It get compicated, but that's half the fun!
