I'M BLESSED.......
Just to let you guys know that my session went well. I worked mainly with recording musicians, while the vocalist was singing unrecorded to get the sequence of the song. Friday will be a full day of vocals though! The only problem I have is the artist is not experienced in studio singing, he's more of a live entertainer and I am trying to let him see the difference. He has too much energy in the studio and I want him to relax and realize we have many tracks to work with. If you leave it up to him, he wants to do eveything in one take. I mean sing the verses and the chorus back to back to back. But so far so good, I wiill keep y'all posted. And again, thanks for the help!

my only tip is dont try to muffle that energy to much...... do as much as u can to keep the dynamics of his performance with out jeperdizing sound quality.... he'll get over wanting to do everything in one take but dont let him relax to much.... ive done that b4 with a singer and it took forevery to get the sound right....... and also if possible I would say have another ear or two in on the session, that helped me a lot with singers, because the extra ears hear things that the producer or engineer and the singer wont hear so well..... i.e bad notes, harmonies, etc.....

lol after saying all this I realized i really dont know your experience and u might kno all the stuff I just typed lol oh well even if u do somebody just starting could use this info..... even tho im still a beginner i've had long sessions with a singer and found ways around that......

GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS ON A GOOD SESSION

That's great homie. I always love great studio sessions.

Congrats Trizz.

Hope it continues to be a success and all goes well.

I think that as long as he's excited about the project and can bring that energy and excitement, then let him. It will help dynamics like Fyre said. Also excitement = added motivation so don't lose focus of that. Let him do him and you do you and make it combine into the work it can be.
