Yeah here's how it works
Guys like you that have no cred in the real world stroke themselves till they cum acting like they know something about audio. Then when someone who actually does know something comes around and says there favorite chinese piece of shit isn't that great they crap themselves and start attacking in such a way that shows how completely brainless they are.

Yep I figured this board out.

Dude you couldn't even make coffee at a studio in the real world

At least Chessrock knows his stuff
i know

next to nothing

about recording

that's why i come here

to learn

i find

there's nothing to learn

from wankers like you

who are full of themselves

"xyz sucks"

is all you know how to say

nope just bored by the inability of people like you to have a reasonable discussion about gear. Now go wipe yourself with your Studio Projects and massage your prostrate with a 57 you little studiomasturbater

Ri-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght.

...So anyway, on the subject of low-end pre's offered for home recordists who aren't producing the Beatles next project and don't have Rupert Neve as their daddy, I've only listened to a few out there, but one is the Mackie VLZ pre, which had been touted as phenominal and one of the best in it's price range by many besides Mackie. The VTB1 is just plain better IMO. It provides a clean, nominally true signal with plenty of gain and the option of adding a smidge of rough edge via the toob blend.

Oh, BTW, for anyone doing research, Recording Magazine, June 2006, page 96... ;)

a RNP, dmp3 or Brick is better than a vtb1 - a vtb1 will give you some gain but it trashes the audio for anyone who has ears - heck an old mackie 1604 will beat a vtb1 - I just saw one of those used for $250 at gear slutz - you'd get 16 pres with that and they beat the fake studio project tube pre anyday.

go stroke your self studiomasturbater - must be hard for you being a cowardly little weasel

Nice thing about sociopath wannabe sound pros; They lose all credibility with their first post. I ran across a goodly number of them when I toured. They invariable wind up in a corner alone, telling the furniture how great and wonderful they are. We left one useless self revolving sound tech in the parking lot of a club in Lewiston Idaho...I think he works at a Denny's there now...

I guess it's a good thing I don't work the bar circuit - nothing like those 50 dollar gigs in Idaho

Why is it that any thread that even vaguely mentions Studio Projects just seems to attract this massive horde of idiots on parade?

.

just you

and "recordingpro"

no massive whored

Ah, yes. The Microphone Forum. Some things never change.

I see Chessrock is as clueless as ever, at least he has the decency to find himself funny.

And Recordingpro is surely one of the better hoaxes in the last year or two. Did Acorec get bored of the subtleties of 'Micsales'? Or is Father Time back for another stint?

None of this humorous warbling changes the fact that the SP VTB-1 is, with the M-Audio DMP-3, one of the most popular budget preamps in the market over the last few years. You could do a lot worse ... like spending double the money on a Focusrite Trakmaster and getting on of the most 'meh' preamps I've ever had the 'pleasure' of using.

Keep at it though guys, it's been a while since I've sat in on one of these threads.

Did someone say my name? :D

This thread does bring back some memories...

I'm one of the people that agree that the VTB-1 is a great for what it is - a budget pre-amp that is clean, and just works. I haven't had the pleasure to experience a great deal of high-end pre's, but out of the budget to mid-range I've tried (DMP3, VTB-1, Tampa), I've been pleased with what I got out of them. Now that my budget is non-existant these days (or should I say funds), I'm back to using my Yamaha MX12/4 mixer pre's and they are working just fine for me too. I've been working to build my engineering experience with what gear I have, or have had, and I've learned a lot through it all.

Hmmmm sounds like another lacky sucking Alan Hyatts cock.

Just what do you think is the hoax - do you need some more pics or what?

Go wipe Alans smegma off your face and brush your teeth loser

hey cool I'm collecting more red chiclets form all the losers and wannabes who don't know shit yet think they do

At the end of the day, I've heard superb mixes done by one of HR's previous favourite hoaxsters, Sonusman, done with Behringer pres recorded to 16-bit ADAT. It's not difficult to get a usable preamp, and the budget pres which you mention are all very good products a step above 'entry level' which all serve a slightly different purpose.

There will always be one or two complete tools who come on here and slag everyone else and their opinions off ... they seem to gravitate towards the mic forum because here more than anywhere else you can make a completely unsubstantiated claim and get away with it.
