Just put the air in big garbage bags, bring them back to your studio and slowly open them there. Its amazing what difference the right air makes! After all: its the air that transmits your amazing vocals. A mic does nothing but capture & destroy the vibrations in the air and convert it into electrons. Thats trivial electronics and has nothing to do with audio recording. No need for an expensive mic & pre. I presonally import my air from the Himalaya, coz its thinner & cleaner, which makes it easier to hit the high notes.

This is true, but there are a few budget preamps that would make for a good combination with something like a KSM 44 or a TLM 103. First, you should consider getting the KSM 32 instead. It is the same mic as the 44, except that it is cardiod pattern instead of multiple polar patterns like the 44. For rap and most singing, you won't need any other patterns. The only time I can think of you needing something like omni pattern is if you have a group of vocalists that you want to track on the same mic at the same time.
Since money is an issue here, you should consider the KSM 32 and something like the Studio Projects VTB-1. M-Audio makes a very good budget preamp called the DMP3 (2 channels for ~$120 at Guitar Center to ~$199 at other places). But the VTB-1 is a great versatile preamp with the tube knob. It's certainly not the greatest pre in the world, but it can cut quality vocals for cheap (~$129). VTB-1 with the KSM 32 or KSM 44 will do the job fine until you're ready for a better preamp.

The Shure KSM32 cardiod is NOT the same mic as the Shure KSM44... and the DMP3 is perfered over the VTB-1 by many.

I think the ksm27 would be pretty similar to the ksm44, but I've heard a lot of mixed reports on that one. Someone should email shure and find out the skinny.

I didn't really care for the KSM27. The KSM32 is a nice mic, and IMO more neutral than the KSM44... which can be good or bad. Also remember, one and two diaphragm mic's are different.

I would also consider the Rode NT-1A as a candidate (about US $200 at Musicians' Friend) along with, say, a dbX mini-pre mic preamp.
This should fit your budget and give a very clean result.

However, despite the fact that the DMP3 is "preferred" by many it is a one-trick pony. I think the "preference" has a great deal to do with it being a 2-channel pre, as opposed to the DMP3's single channel (for about the same money). I own the DMP3 and think it is a decent budget pre (in fact I own both). But, the VTB-1 has a more subdued/neutral sound, IMO. Plus, the tube knob on the VTB-1 give the user a variety of sound ... something that cannot be had on the DMP3. The tube is decent IMO. For a beginner using one mic, one preamp, I would recommend the VTB-1 because of the variety. Plus, for rap stuff and having vocals "explode" the DMP3 can be a bit over the top due to its generally bright character. Having everything bright is not a good thing, IMO.

Thanks i finally know what im a get, I hope it works out. SO the Shure KSM 32 mic is a great mic, No one has any problems with that, It seems that most people have problems with the Preamps im a get, So LATER on when i feel i should get a better preamp, Which preamp should i be looking to get?????

I thought this was clear. But, if it wasn't I, personally, would recommend the Studio Projects VTB-1. Others would recommend the M-Audio DMP3. Both are good budget preamps.

in the last post i said i was gonna get the KSM 32 and one of the pre amps u recommended but EVERY seemed to like the mic, I asked after a while of using the Preamp i choose out of the 2 u recommended, WHat Preamp should i be looking for next that would bring the mic's full potencial????

The DMP3 is the 2-channel preamp... not the VTB-1.

I feel bad about ribbing him, and I apologize, because I'm starting to pick up on the possibility that he has something going on like in the movie Rainman . . . or perhaps if you've seen the movie Mementos; it could just be a short-term memory kind of thing.
Anyway, he starts the same threads and repeats the same patterns continuously, and then eventually starts the same threads up again a few weeks or even months later.
