Studio Projects C1 Recording

The origin of the latest feud goes back to the dipshittery of my opponent. He's not even worthy of an argument because all he does is make threats and then disappear. :rolleyes:

Honestly, it's like trying to teach a chicken how to bowl. I'm sure there's a reason to try it, but what does it actually accomplish? I made a personal pledge to not engage you know who unless he tells actual lies. That doesn't cut down on responses by much, but every little bit helps.

Rick - Don't let the BS get you down. That's a nice piece of work no matter what you recorded it with.

The 2 words guaranteed to send any thread off into the hinterlands are Studio Projects. For whatever reason, there isn't much middle of the road opinion on them.
 
Arround here the C1 has certainly gotten its share of praise...a value at its price point..definately a step above anything else under 300 bucks, and the B1 is excellent as well...but that has been said adnausium arround here.

Im anxcious to hear the Steven Paul mic PMI is soon to put out.

Several folks have found other mics under $300 that they consider a rival to or better than the SP C1 for their uses: Marshall V69, ADK Hamburg (or Vienna), CAD M179, to name a few.

On this forum the SP mics get pleny of press, mostly good. On some other forums they are virtually unknown.
 
Haha, when thinking about other forums, I thought that the folks over at gearbox software forum that I used to read from time to time probably know nothing of studio projects.

From reading a lot on this forum and looking for mics under $300 I found the same opinions.
I actually have the sp b1, adk hamburg, and CAD m179, and the mxl v69m is another one I actually would like to pick up. Since I have the b1, I decided to get other makes instead of the SPC1. So far, I'm really happy with the mics I have gotten.
Shure sm57 is another mic I have as well which I use mainly for guitar amp mic'ng.

i posted samples of a shure a couple weeks ago and nobody asked me to post it someplace else. the pmi prejudice is as bad as the pmi circle-jerk. unhelpful and maybe counterproductive

the clip sounds okay, but the mic falls apart in certain places. like the word "meeeeeeee" and the "yyyyyyy" part of "cloudyyyyyy" near the beginning. the upper mids are weird. the mp3 quality is too low to know what in the fuck is going on

Cat-eggs - the thing is that there is no PMI Jerk-circle. It's ok to think a person is a good person, or a mic is a good mic. That's fine. In the time I have been here that has been no sycophancy regarding Studio Projects mics beyond those users who've bought them and found them to be good value.

As it happens, I've bitten the bullet and am getting some Studio Projects mics. I'll be sure to start a thread and tell you all what I think about them ... but I will not apologise for liking them if I find that they're good.
 
More than anything, I bought the C1 out of curiosity. It was worth the 200 bucks to satisfy my curiosity.

Definitely. I prefer the CAD M179 over the C1. The C1 seems to sweeten the top end a little too much for my liking - the M179 just captures a nice, clean signal which can be tweaked to any hearts desire.
 
Everytime I hear a C1, they sound brittle or even harsh. I've never heard the more silky top end I like, and usually get out of my even-lower-priced Oktavas.
 
Wow, vocals sound really warm and blend well. I'm loving the reverb you put on it. Quality is suprisingly good.

Good job on the mix.

I apologize for my unscrupulous tactics in suggesting that someone buy a nice pre-owned version of the mic in question if they "just want to try it out". I admit it, I am part of briefcasemanx-AG marketing!
