Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with KRK Rokit 8 powered monitors? I found someone selling a used pair for 300, and since they retail for 250 each, Im thinking about picking them up... im just starting out and was wondering if anyone could tell me if this was a good investment for me at this point? Thanks!

I think they are. I've got a set of Rokit 5's and the sound great, since I've gotten used to them I can mix very well on them.

The 8's have a frequency response of 44hz-20khz +/-1.5 db so they're pretty damn flat. I debated buying them and listened to them and they sound great. (If you can't afford to plunk down $1000 on a set of monitors I'd go for these!

I definitely can't afford 1000 right now... my original budget was 200 but i told my wife i'd be saving 200 bucks by buying these for 300! So thats good to hear....

Lots of people say good things about KRK Rokits

My understanding is that these are good bang for the buck monitors.

Are they the G2s or the originals?

Either way, that's a reasonable price (assuming you're talking US dollars) and buying used would be a great way to get a lot more from your budget. You won't get anything that decent new for $300 per pair.

The KRKs are excellent monitors for the price anyway when new, so I don't see how you could spend the money much better :)

For someone that is just starting out this would be a wise purchase for your monitor set up.
Now you will have a descent set of monitors that didn't brake the bank that will leave you with capital that you can spend on other items that you will be in need of.

I've heard good things about the KRK series too. Sounds like a good deal. ;)

Thanks for the input guys! I ended up getting a good deal on a brand new pair of KRK Rokit rp6 G2's... a friend of a friend bought them and never took them out of the box and was desperate for money so i got the pair for 290! They arent 8's but for the price and being brand new i couldnt pass them up! Happy now that i can spend a little more on some decent condenser mics!

The 6es are that bad at all . A great starter set of monitors. You are lucky drum420, and now on to some condensers.

I preferred the RP6 over the 5 and the 8, which is why I got them (the originals, not the mk. II versions). I love them!
