Advice needed please.
Can anyone tell me how important the type of flooring is for a studio?
At the moment I'm on the ground floor on concrete which I imagine is the ideal, but will shortly be moving and the only suitable room I'll have will be on the first floor so it'll be floorboards.
Is this likely to cause any problems - bass wise for example?
Thanks in advance.

all studios I've been in float their floors. For home recording, your worrying about nothing. For pros, it would pose a problem.

Other than you may pick up some additional background noise, like feet stomping and things being moved (chairs, stools, whatever) you aren't likely to notice much if any difference. If the floor is bare wood you may like it better for drums and other acoustic instruments. If the room you are moving to has windows, they are more likely to be a problem than the floor.
