Anyone know of a company in NY that Builds recording studios??

c9 - I've looked for a studio builder in Atlanta for 5 months (with no success).

In May, I broke down and decided to take everthing I've learned from the BBS and other websites and work with a general contractor. They did all the framing and incorporated the important studio aspects (air gaps, caulking, neoprene, etc.). I'm going to get these same guys back for the drywall installation... again, they've never used resilient channel, but I'll show them how to do it.

There is a great company in-town called CTG (Comprehensive Technical Group) who I call to ask questions, get vendors, buy wiring, wallplates and treatments. The number is 404-352-3000. I have also used the free consultation service from Auralex from time to time.

Hope this helps.

Scuppari, your in Smyrna.. i'm in decatur... i was looking in the phone book yesterday and i found"Behind the scenes of hot atlanta inc" they're Recording studio specialist... i also came across"National sound and video inc" they also build studios.. i'm not sure how much these big companies are gonna charge me just to build a 4x4 to 6x6 vocal booth.... i can't build a full studio until i have about $30,000 MIN cuz my moms isn't gonna let me knock down walls in this house, it cost to damn much...but if i can get the money, and i know i can.. i'll have a 2500 Sq ft studio to work with, not a 20x20 room with a large closet as a booth..

i made a design that i could stay in here until we build out or go get a building, i can build a ok size booth in here...
Scuppari, do you know how to build a booth?

Well, I've read a ton about the subject and I think I could guide a contractor thru the construction process.

Rather than building one, have you seen the pre-built units? I'm not sure where I saw them, but I'll post a link or two later today. You could assemble the unit in the corner of your room and move it into your new larger space (whenever you get the funds).

no i'm not trying to have one of the pre-built units.. they cost to much.. i build the same both last year as the 8x8 booth at vocalbooth.com and it was much cheaper.. we didn't even spend..$1000 to build it.. so i know mine at 4x4 to 6x6 will only be a few hundread.. i'm gonna build it out of mdf... i can get the plexiglas cheap and i know how to sound proof it. then the door.. thatsnot a problem.. run thw wires into it... and make sure i have a ac vent on the top, side or somewhere in there to keep it cool..
