Strats Vs Les Pauls

What a blazing, flammable thread!

I'm a LP kinda person, thinking to have my version of it built. I like the heavyness. But a cousin of mine plays a mex. Tele, and I think his leads are works of God. great tone.

About basses, I like my fenderjazzbass-knock-off most, due to sound but I also like to play my Peavey neck-through with humbuckers.

Neck-through-body goes to which category? LP with humbuckers, Strat with single-coils? or goes it down to possible cut-aways? Paint job? :D

Ive owned both and still do, they both have their place, but i fell in love with my carvin, it plays better than either one. as far as versitility Im going to be a real oddball and choose a USA Dean Cadilliac. It looks like a les paul and explorer had a baby and has the les paul tone especially on the neck pickup but hit the coil taps on the bridge and you are in fender land. The carvin is hand built and the fit and finish is second to none and has the best feeling neck i have ever had in my hands and is a lot more versital than either the strat or les paul. shure for blues or southern rock i pick up the les paul and for country i use a strat, or a es 335 or Gretsch tennesean for rockabilly, but for classic rock and metal the Carvin and Dean reign supreme in my guitar vault.

Dean cadillac:

I recently saw those on a few old videos. I thought they were pretty cool back in the day. Do they have a sculpted top like a les paul or are the bodies just slabs like an explorer?

its a carved top just like a les paul mahogany body, set neck, carved flame maple top

Both guitars are great, but if on an island and I could have one guitar, it would be a Strat!

Does that island have electricity? A drummer and bass player? ;^)

The Dean Cadillac is a slab body. I actually have a Dean Z on its way to me from Dean right now as a spiff.

As to the Strat vs Les Paul, you gotta have both if youre recording.
