This may not be the appropriate forum for this question, but is it possible, theoretically, to put a Lace Sensor bridge pickup in the MIDDLE position of a Strat, and get the same sound you would as if it was placed in the bridge position?

I really like the tone David Gilmore got from the red Strat he used on Pulse, which I think had lace sensors (correct me if I'm wrong....) So I'm thinking of installing the treble Lace Sensor PU, which would normally be put in the bridge, into the middle position (for soloing), thus leaving the bridge spot open for a standard noiseless single coil, like a Vintage Noiseless or Holy Grail. I'm not new at playing guitar, but I am with the electronics, so if someone could just guide me down the right road I'd appreciate it.

By the way, the reason I want to put it in the middle position is because I want to keep the neck pickup.

no, The position of the pickup has just as much to do with the tone as the pickup itself.

No, the position has MORE to do with the sound than the pickup, by a lot. If you want a good example of why this is, move your picking hand closer to and further from the bridge as you play. It is much the same effect, and for a similar reason. The closer to the middle of the strings span, the further it moves while it is vibrating. This has a big effect on the harmonic content of the note.
