I'm thinking about getting some straplocks. What brand do you prefer, and why? Do you have to buy complete sets, or can you buy the button parts for the guitar alone?

I have two plastic spinning locks, think they might be planet waves. They just go on over the strap and strap-pin, turn em once and they're locked solid. I'll have to get another few sets.

A cheap but effective strap lock is the rubber rings you get at the top of some beer bottles. I think its the bigger beer bottles that have the rubber rings on them.

Cool idea! I don't drink though. It makes my playing sloppy, and causes nasty dings and scratches on my guitars. I'll pick up some rubber grommets at the hardware store. They won't have the same Grolsh mojo, but will probably do the trick.

The Shaller, and Dunlop locks both look pretty cool. I might try either of those later.

Yeah being drunk and playing don't tend to mix too well although a few beers are good before gigging to loosen up the Ol muscles. ;)

I used to use the Schaller straplocks. Never cared for the Dunlop ones. Nowadays, though, I use DiMarzio Clik-Lok straps. Inexpensive, comfy, and they're not going to fail.

As stupid as it sounds, it also depends on the kind of strap you're using. I had a bit of trouble trying to get the Dunlop locks to fit on some thick leather straps I bought for myself. Had to take some pliers and force the strap lock pieces together because the strap was too thick.

That was after spending about a half hour trying to shave the leather down...haha. Then I finally just thought of using the pliers.
