CR,

That's a good example of what can be done with very little cash on hand. Have you ever considered using the 414 as a bridge to your PC's soundcard and recording the tracks to digital directly? As long as you're doing the one man band thing with a project like that, I think you might find you get an even better sound than you already have. But props all around for your first stab at multitracking.
Hey, thanks man!

A dude at work gave me an old copy of Cool Edit Pro and for some reason it decides that it wants to perform Ilegal Ops from several Page Faults when I use it. And the 225 page PDF Manual is next to useless. The guy works the middle shift at a local TV station and I'm on days so, it's hard to catch up with him to help me out.

I'm working on a couple of other personal projects on the 414 and kind of like the "warmth" of the analog recording and mixing it down to the computer. Also, our band is getting ready to finish up our CD using my sidekick's Tascam 424 MKIII along with a nice lil mixer that I have coming. Sharon, our drummer has a Roland Eletronic Drumset coming and we are going to use a room at the church for our "Studio."

We did "Jesus Christ Is King" in a small studio and the dude used an 8 Track Digital Roland setup but we are more of a "live" band and he prefers recording 1 instrument at a time starting with DRUMS which gets pretty confusing for us and and takes alot of time. When I was involved in recording in the late 70's and 1980, We would stick the Lead Vox in an isolation booth and the rest of the band would just let it rip in the main studio. Two songs in two hrs and we were gone! :D Man, the studio time cost us bux! LOL

Thanks again for the reply, Bro! Hopefully I will be able to get the Cool Edit Pro working soon and I can get the digital thing going cause I do have a fantastic sound card in that puter over there!

CR,

I hear what you are saying about the warm sound. I guess as long as you are realy good about cleaning your tape heads the noise floor could be bearable. Me, I'm not so good about that. That's why I've been moving towards digital.

BTW: My favorite amongst all your stuff posted so far is Road of Salvation. It's got a real gritty delta meets Chicago kinda style that I like a lot.

Thanks again, Bro! RoS was written by my sidekick, Jeffro, and he was a Blues Purist in a BIG way. Those "live" songs are about 4th or fifth generation from the master as I lost my copy of the tape (probably gave it to someone by accident) and Jeff moved and can't find either the original tracks or the copy of the master. The song has evolved lyrically over the past year and it's now played in G instead of E. We hope to record it again very soon! It's one of my favorites too.
