I've been accused of hearing bells before, but...

I am trying to add software reverb to a specific vocal part in a song. However, when I do, I get a faint ring on certain words. I haven't run across this before and don't know how to get rid of it.

It may possibly be in the initial recording, as when I play it dry I *think* I hear it. Not totally sure as it is very faint. But with the reverb, you can definitely hear it.

Anyone have any ideas. I'm thinking maybe EQ can take it out, but I can't seem to find the frequency to adjust.

It could be an artifact of that partricular signal/ equipment combination. I've had that happen to me before. I was recording an electronic keyboard with the harpsichord voice. When I played back the recoding, I could hear what sounded like key clunks. It obviously wasn't that - the keys weren't weighted, and I was recording direct.

Rather than playing with the EQ on your track, try playing with the EQ settings on the verb plug-in. Hopefully the one you are using gives you that flexability.
 
dachay2tnr ... could you possibly post an mp3 of it? It's hard to understand what you're describing ... just a short sample would be good.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I was able to finally remove it with EQ. I put a notch filter at around 1925 Hz which seemed to take out the ring. My biggest problem seemed to be isolating the frequency - which I finally did through a lot of trial and error. I still have no idea of what was causing it.

Big Kahuna - I don't have a place to post MP3's. FYI, the sound was very, very similar to a ring you'd get from a live sound system. The type of ring you get when you're just on the verge of getting feedback.

The room we record in is not sound deadened (a basement without any sound treatment). I guess it's possible that the natural reverberation got compounded when I added software reverb, which created the ring. Just hadn't happened before.
 
or the cans were very loud and were on the edge of feedback...??? ;)
